DIFFICULT BREAKUPS
In a consumer society, the modern person is caught between two contradictions.
On one hand, we have the ability to produce and supply more and more new goods, which leads to the tendency for constant consumption.
On the other hand, we carry the inherited tendency to hoard, stockpile, and struggle with letting go of things.
This pattern not only fills our physical and emotional space with excess but also distances us from the value of our possessions, creating a cycle of consumption that is hard to break.
The wheelbarrow embodies this contradictory duality.
It has a large capacity to “accumulate” and “carry,” but it is designed to easily dump its load. It is often used to transport our “burdens” from one place to another.
